South Lanarkshire Leisure: Physical Activity on Prescription
Residents of South Lanarkshire who may benefit from being more physically active can be referred by their GP, Physiotherapist or NHS health professional to a variety of health & wellbeing interventions, programmes and activities with South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, (SLLC) in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire.
Once referred, SLLC Leisure staff will engage with you individually before triaging you into a suitable physical activity intervention. The menu of opportunities available to referred patients are detailed below:
- Social Prescribing, Free access for 4 weeks to the gym, swimming, health suite, fitness classes and accompanying email-based support including home based exercises.
- Green Health opportunities
- External signposting to physical activity, wellbeing, nutritional advice from partner organisations
- Weigh to Go – Free, 15-week adult weight management class*

There is extensive evidence to show that being more active can help:
• Improve your health
• Improve feelings of wellbeing
